Silva'scharactermightseemlikethegoodguy,oratleastthekindofanti-heroClintEastwoodplayedin"Fistful"andotherWesterns(andlaterin"DirtyHarry"whichwasabiginfluenceontheItalianpolizieschi).ButtheSilvacharacterhimselfisquitepsychoticwhenitcomestowomen,specificallythemasochisticprostitute/mistressoftheAmericangangster(playedbyBarbaraBouchet).Thefirsttimetheymeetheviolentlysodomizesher.Andwhenshecomesbackformorehebeatsherwithabelt.NowIhavetoadmitthedescriptionIreadsomewhereofanakedBouchetbeingwhippedbyabeltdidnotexactlydissuademefromseeingthis,butit'snotanaccurateone.Sheisnotnaked(atleastinthatscene)andheliterallybeatshertoabloodypulp.Evenherboyfriend,whootherwiseiscontenttothrowthepromiscuousgirlathiserstwhilepartner,ishorrifiedbythebrutalbeatingandvowsrevenge. ThisscenesquandersanygoodwilltowardSilva'scharacter(whichmayhavebeentheintention,Idon'tknow),butalsotowardthefilmitself--it'sprettyhardtotakeevenforsomeonelikemeaccustomedtothecasualmisogynyofthegenre.Itcertainlydoesn'thelpthattheactressisBarbaraBouchet,whoalongwithEdwigeFenechandRosalbaNeri,was(andstillis)oneofthemostpopularEuropeanexploitationactressesoftheera(althoughthisprobablywouldhavebeenonlymarginallymorepalatableifithadbeensomeanonymousEuro-bimbo).Toitscreditthismovieatleastcan'tbeaccusedofglorifyinganyofitsgangstercharacterslikesomeother"polizieschi"tendedtodo.Stillitmightbealittlebittoomuchformanyviewers.…
