简介：Thefilm'splotissetduringthewarbetweenPolandandtheSovietRussia(1919-1921).Wartimebrutallyencroachesonthelifeofacoupleinlove-FranekandHanka.TheBolsheviktroopscausedamagetoPolishvillagesandmanorhouses,andinoneofthemanorhousestheinvadershaveacarousel.Luckily,thePolishcavalrycomestothereliefjustintime.Unabletowaitpassively,HankabecomesasisterofmercyinoneofthefieldhospitalsnearVilnius,whileFranekgainswiderecognitionaftercapturingaRussianspy.ThesignificantdocumentsfoundonthespycontributedtothecaptureofVilnius.ThebloodybattlesendwiththePolishtroopsenteringthetown,andHankaandFranekfinallyfindeachotheragain,althoughinquitesurprisingcircumstances.ThefilmendswiththedocumentaryrecordingoftheceremonyofincorporatingVilniusintothePolishborders,withtheparticipationofMarshalPiłsudski,thehighestcommandersofthePolisharmyandsomeforeignguests.
