简介：AtGijón2007,Lacuesta(Girona,1975)hadtheopeningofhisfilmTheMarkerVariations,meditationsonthecinemaofChrisMarker(Neuilly-sur-Seine,France,1921)andhiswayoflookingatfaces,ofthinkingtheworld,ofportrayingthe20thCentury.AlmostalltheimagesinLacuesta'sfilmwereshotbyMarker(whichistosaytheyweretakenfromtheFrenchdirector'sfilmography);andevensomesequencesinthisfilm,accordingtoalineofreasoningwhichwouldbecomplicatedtoexplainhere,wereeditedbyMarkerhimself.IntheNovemberissueofCahiérsduCinémainitsSpanishedition,Lacuestaexplained:"Filmmakersinspiteofeverything,theheirsofthemanwiththemoviecamerawon'tevenneedthistogoonmakingfilms".TheMarkerVariationsprovesit:thedirectorwithoutacameragetsonthatfleetingtimelinecalledcinemaandcarriesthenamesofVertovandEisensteinand,ofcourse,Marker,theinventorsofunstoppableimages.AbitlikeBorgesinTheGardenofForkingPaths,Isakiassumesthat"thefuturealreadyexists",andthattherearemanyfilmswhichcan(andmust)bemadefromthatassumption.
