简介：Inseptember,1936thelastenclavesinthesouthwestofExtremadurawereabouttobecapturedbytherisenarmytroops.Inviewofthissituation,agroupofsomethousandpeopletrytogetawayfromterroranddeathescapinginaorganizedwaytowardstherepublicansettingofAzuaga.Alotofthemwererunningawaybecauseoftheirpoliticalideas,otherssimplybecausetheywereafraid.ThecolumnwasattackedinaplacenearthevillagesofReinaandFuentedelArcoandabout80peopledied.Inthemiddleofconfusionandhorror,thecolumndivided.Somewereabletopass,othersgotlostinthenearbymountainsandmostofthemtriedtogetbackintheirownstepsbutweremadeprisionerswhentheyarrivedtotheirbirthplaces.Manyofthesewereshot.
