简介：CamburnuisasmallmountainvillageinnortheasternTurkey.ThankstotheBlackSea’smildandhumidclimate,thevillagershavelivedforgenerationsoffteacultivationandfishinginharmonywiththenaturesurroundingthem.Butthisidyllicenvironmentisthreatenedbythegovernment’sdecisiontenyearsagotobuildagarbagelandfilldirectlyabovethevillage.Despiteprotestsbythemayorandthevillagers,awastefacilityhasbeenbuiltthatdoesnotcomplywiththemostimportantsecurityandbuildingstandardsandsincethenhascontinuedtopollutetheenvironmentthroughaccidentsanddisasters.Theteagrowers,whoseplantationsliebeneaththelandfill,havelosttheirlivelihood.Theconsequencesaredevastatingandclearlyevident,yettonsofwastecontinuetobedumpedinthelandfilleveryday. In2006,filmmakerFatihAkinwenttoCamburnuforthefirsttimetoshootthefinaleofhisfilmTHEEDGEOFHEAVENinhisgrandparent’shomevillage.Whenhelearnsoftheimpendingenvironmentaldisaster,hedecidestotakeactioninthebestwayheknowshow.Overaperiodofmorethan5years,hedocumentsthesmallvillage’sstruggleagainstthecountry’spowerfulinstitutions,andrecordstheinevitabledisastersthatconsistentlyplaguethisformerparadise……
