简介：DoisCorregos(TwoStreams)isarites-of-passagefilmaboutthreeyoungwomenwhoselivesweremarkedinthesummerof1969whentheymetHermes,apoliticalexilewhohadclandestinelyreturnedtohiscountry.Thefilmstartsinpresent-dayBrazilwhenAnaPaulaarriveswithherlawyeratthesmalltownofDoisCorregos,intheprovinceofSaoPaulo,whereshehasjustinheritedherparents'house.Shebeginstoreminisceaboutthelasttimeshewasthere,whichwasin1969whenshewasseventeenyearsold:sheandherpianistfriendLydiaspentfourdaysinthecountrychaperonedbyTeresa,ahousekeeperwhoismorelikeanoldersister.ThebriefvisitisalsoanopportunitytomeetHermes,hermother'sbrotherwhomshehasneverknown.Hermeshasbeenforcedintoexileandrejectedbyhisfamilyforhisinvolvementinultra-leftactivities.HehassecretlyreturnedtoBrazilandishidingatDoisCorregos.Emotionsrunhighasfamilysecretsarerevealed,whicheventuallyresultinself-realizationforthepeopleinvolved.ThefilmisshotinthestateofSaoPaulowherethetworiversoftheregionconverge.Thelocationisusedasametaphorforthecharactersandthecountry,whichhadsufferedelevenyearsofdictatorship.Thetworiversofthetitlestandfortwodifferentstreamsofexperience:thepresent,withitsdelicatestoryofrememberedadolescence,andtheresurfacinguneasinessofthepast.Themusicisanotherelementthatcontributestotheatmosphereandheightenstheemotionalbuild-up.BraziliandirectorCarlosOscarReichenbach,oneofthemostactivefiguresofthegenerationfollowing(andreactingagainst)the"CinemaNovo,"wasinspiredbyLaragazzaconlavaligiaandEstateviolentaofValerioZurliniwhenhewasshootingthisfilm,whichisdedicatedtothose"wholivedthroughaverydifficultperiodofthecountry'shistory."DoisCorregoswasscreenedincompetitionatthe1999LocarnoInternationalFilmFestival.…
