Hisevidenceonthe2000FloridaPresidentialelectionvotingprocessisbothastonishingandterriblytroubling. PalastalsoofferscleardocumentaryevidencethatBlackswereraciallyprofiledtobeeliminatedfromvoterrollsbyFlorida'svoter/felonpurge.Essentially,atthebehestofKatherineHarris,underJebBush'sclosewatch,Floridasystematicallyandintentionallydeniedvotingrightstoapproximately90,000voterswhoserighttovoteinFloridawaslegallyunquestionable--andover54%ofthemwereBlack.SinceFloridaBlacksvoted93%forAlGore,Palast'sremarkablydetailedbookmakesitperfectlyevidentthatillegallypurgedBlackvotespreventedFloridafromvotingoverwhelminglyforAlGoreandgivingGorethepresidency. PalastalsodemonstratesthattheissueisnotoneofBlackincompetence.Votingmachinesweresettoacceptdoublevoted,andthereforeuncountable,ballotsinBlackdistricts,whiletheyweresettorejectdoublevotedballotsinWhitedistricts,soWhitescouldrecasttheirballots.InothercountieswithheavilyBlackpopulations,theautomaticprotectionsystemswhichrejectdoublevotedballotsweresimplyturnedoffto"reducecosts." SowhileBush"won"thepresidencyona5-4SupremeCourtvotewhichsaid,essentially,thatAmericansdon'thavetheConstitutionalrighttovoteforthePresident,somethingfarmoresacredwaslostintheFloridavotingprocess--therightofeveryeligible,adultAmericantohavehisorhervotecountedandtohavethatvotedeterminewhowillleadourcountry.…
