Heboardstheconvertedschoolbushe’llbetravellingon,toavoidattractingtheattentionofthelocalsandheadstowardsChihuahua.Enroute,hisdrivertakeshimtoseesomeofthelocalcowboysbeforeheexperiencestheenduringpatriotismofalocalhero,therevolutionaryPanchoVilla,wholeadtheArmyoftheNorth,intherevolutionarywarof1914. BoardingtheElChepetrainheheadsintotheSierraMadremountainsandthemagnificentCopperCanyon,whereheovercomeshisfearsandtakesoneofthelongestzipwireridesintheworld,80milesanhourtwokilometresdown,towheretheTamahumarapeoplelive. Onseeingthecanyonforthefirsttime,Stephensays:“Lookatthat,it’sabsolutelystunning.I’mtemptedtosayArizonaeatyourheartout.It’sextraordinary,it’ssortofmorebeautifulthantheGrandCanyon.” Leavingthecanyon,hearrivesintheoldsilverminingtownofRealdeCatorce.Onceboomingwiththefortunesofitswares,thetownfellfromgracein1900butisboomingonceagain,thankstothetouristindustry.
