Fromthefirstopus,Robinethailsonnoduro,hischaracterbecameacomicreferenceandtheactorimmediatelyexperiencedfameinItaly.AttheendofthegoldenageofLatincinemain1915,hecrossedtheAtlanticandcontinuedhiscareerintheUnitedStatesofAmericawhereheimportedhischaracterthatbecameTweedledum. ThecreationofRobinetwasthewishofArturoAmbrosio,producerandfounderoftheAmbrosioStudios.WhileItaliansilentfilmwasatitspinnacle,AmbrosiowantedtorivaltheItalaandCinèsstudios,producersoftheTontoliniandCretinetticharacters,twonewheroesofburlesquefromTurin. Hopingtobecomeasuccess,AmbrosiohiredbothMarcelFabretoincarnateRobinet,andLuigiMaggi,ayoungdirector,towhomwenotablyowethefirstversionofthefamousLastDaysofPompeii,in1908. Thisshortfilm,oneofthelastfilmsstagingRobinet,re-usedthemoststrikingsymbolsofburlesque.Fights,fallsandthesettlingofscoreswerehonoured,justlikeboxing,regularlyusedbycinematogiveitacomiccharacter.
