PuffersseemtohavebeenregardedfondlyevenbeforeMunrobeganpublishinghisshortstoriesintheGlasgowEveningNewsin1905.Thismaynotbesurprising,forthesesmallsteamboatswerethenprovidingavitalsupplylinkaroundthewestcoastandHebridesislandsofScotland.Thecharmingrascalityofthestorieswentwellbeyondtherealityofacommercialshippingbusiness,buttheybroughtwidespreadfame.Theyappearedinthenewspaperover20years,werecollectedinbookformby1931,inspiredthe1953filmTheMaggie,andcameoutasthreepopulartelevisionseries,datingfrom1959to1995. TheoriginalBBCSeriesParaHandy-MasterMariner,whichranfrom1959-60,starredDuncanMacRae(ParaHandy),RoddyMcMillan(TheMate),andJohnGrieve(DanMacPhail,theengineer).Fortheshortfilmtoaccompanythe1963albumHighlandVoyage,thecastwasaugmentedbyAlexMackenzie,whoappearedasTheEngineer,causingGrievetomovetoplayTheCook.Inthesecondseries,TheVitalSpark,McMillantooktheroleofParaHandy,andGrievereprisedhisroleasMcPhail;WalterCarr(DougietheMate)andAlexMcAvoy(SunnyJim)completedthecrew,andtheseriesranfortwoseriesbetween1974and1976.TheseriesalsofeaturedguestappearancesfromthecreamofBritishcomedyactingsuchasFultonMackay,EricIdle,PeterSellers,RichardWilsonandPeterStachura.In1994BBCScotlandproduced"TheTalesOfParaHandy"whichstarredGregorFisherasintheLeadrolealongsideSeanScanlanasDougie,AndrewFairlieasSunnyJimandRikkiFultonasDanMcPhail.TheseriesalsofeaturedayoungDavidTennantinoneofhisfirstactingroles. 详情
