'JohnnyandtheBomb'isanicemixofsciencefiction,lightfantasy,dramawithasmidgenofromance.Itdoesn'tjustshowthekidsprancingabouthavingagoodtimeintheFortiesbutdealswithhowtheycopewiththisunfamiliartime,touchingonracialandsexualstereotypesthekidshaveneverreallycomeacrossbefore.Assuch,whileitisaimedatteenagersprimarily,adultswhoarefansofPratchettnovelsorjustlikesci-fi/lite-fantasywillnodoubtthoroughlyenjoythis.Asanadaptation,Ithinkitiscertainlyasuccess.Obviouslytherearesomechangesfromthenovelbut,forthemostpart,ithasremainedfaithfulanddefinitelymaintainstheessenceofwhatmadethebookagreatread.
