Inthefirstepisode,auniversityprofessornamedDr.Paradigmtestedhisgene-manipulationtechniquesonamarlinandalobster.Dr.Bolton,afellowprofessor,attemptedtodestroyParadigm'sresearch,andwastransformedintoaninhumanmonstrositybytheevilscientistbeforeescaping.ParadigmlaterkidnappedBolton'sfoursons—John,Bobby,Coop,andClint—totransformthemintosharks.Assoonastheytransformed,thefourbrothersateahotdogstand,andfledfromthepolicebydivingintoalakeandburrowingtheirwayintothecitybyeatingthedirt.ThebrothersplannedtocaptureParadigmsothattheycouldforcehimtoreturnthemtotheirhumanselvesandexposeParadigm'sgeneticexperiments. Insubsequentepisodes,ParadigmbegantoconvincetheresidentsofFissionCitythattheStreetSharks(astheybecameknown)werevicious,deadlykillerswhoweremutatedbytheirfather,Dr.Bolton.ThebrothersteamedupeveryepisodetostopParadigmandhisdeadlySeaviatesfromtransformingthecitizensofFissionCityintomutantswithnofreewill.
