EPISODE2:EXTREMES Wehavetakencuesfromnature’smostextremeexamplestohelpourselvesinasmanyapplicationsaspossible.Huskiessurviveinthecoldestplacesonearthandsoarecoveredinthickfur,butcanalsoavoidoverheatinginwarmerclimates.Basedontheircoolingmethodsscientistshavedevelopedthe‘Bearglove’tohelpstophumansfromoverheating.Copyingagiraffe’sabilitytoregulatethebloodpressureinitshead,Swissscientistshavedevelopedasuitforfighterpilotstowear,allowingthemtostayconsciouswhenexperiencingmorethan9G.Andcrashhelmetsarenowbeingimprovedbycopyingthewaywoodpeckersprotecttheirbrainswhentheyundergo1200G,hammeringtheirheadagainstatree.Wehavelearntfromsomeofnature’smostextremeevolutionaryadaptationstomakeourlivesjustthatlittlebiteasierandsafer.
