The1993FormulaOnecalendarsawthereturnoftheEuropeanGrandPrixafteraneight-yearabsencesince1985;theracewasheldatDoningtonPark,theonlytimeithashostedanF1race;thisracewastoreplacethePacificGrandPrixattheAutopoliscircuitinJapanafteradealtoholdaracetherefellthrough.TheonlyexitwastheMexicanGrandPrix,aftersevenyearsattheAutódromoHermanosRodríguezinMexicoCitysince1986,duetosafetyconcernswiththecircuit'sverybumpysurface.
