Withtimehedriftedawayfromavant-gardepoetryandbecameanotablescreenwriter.PriortotheoutbreakofWorldWarII,heauthoredmorethan30screenplaysforbothPolishandforeignfilms.AfterthePolishDefensiveWarhemovedtoSoviet-heldLwów,wherehewasarrestedbytheNKVDandsenttoSovietGulag.ReleasedaftertheSikorski-MayskiAgreement,hejoinedthePolishArmyandwithitreachedPalestine.Therehemadehislivingtranslatingsomeofhispre-warworkstoHebrew.In1948hereturnedtohishometown,wherehediedOctober19,1968.
