Afteracrowdedstartthisfilmsettlesdownintoaquitenicelittletwo-handerwhichcouldeasilybeexpanded(andimproved)forthestage.Theplotseesthetwomengettotalkingwhileplayingtheirdeadlygame.Thecharactersareprettyinterestingbutthescriptisnotquitethere.Asaresultsomeofthedialoguedoessoundlikeitisbeingspokeninatheatreandnotinashabbyroombytwoyounggang-bangers.Thislackofconvincingdialogueisaproblem,butwhatitistryingtodoisadmirable. Withabetterscriptitcouldhavebeenpowerfulandtouching,withtheintimacyoftheroomamplifyingtheemotions.Itisstillasolidpiecebuttheactorstendtomovestarklybetweengangpersonaeandemotinganditdoesjaralittlebit.Ithinkthisisbecausethewordsarewrittenthisway.TheEspanicactorstruggleswiththismostbutPlummer(bestknownforSpeedIsuppose)faresabitbetter.DirectorAndersondoeswellwiththesmallspaceaffordedhimbuthisfinalshotofachildgangmemberisjustaclumsymessagethatwasn'tneeded. Overallasolidshortfilmthatplayslikefilmedtheatre–whichisagoodthing.Thescriptneededtobebettertomakeitmorerealandconvincingbutforwhatitisitisstillgood. 详情
