Companyisthestoryoftwofriends-Malik(AjayDevgan)andChandu(VivekOberoi)-howtheybuildupthe'Company'-Bombayunderworldonaglobalscaleandthusestablishtheirsupremacy.Asmallmisunderstandingbetweenthemturnsintoalargescalemafiawar.Thecastinthisfilmisgreat,aspecialmentionmustbemadeofVivekOberoi.ThesonofSureshOberoi(formerBollywoodstar)istalentedandseemstohaveputinalotofeffortforhisfirstfilm.Ionlyhopehedoesn'tgettype-castedinthefutureaftersuchahard-hittingroleondebut.AjayDevganfitsverywellintotheroleofMalik,acoldbloodeddonwhoalwaysmeansbusiness.ManishaKoiralaenactstheroleofMalik'sgirlfriendprettywellandisrefreshing.However,thebiggestsurpriseofthisfilmwasAntaraMali.ShehasdoneagreatjobasChandu'swife,anditonlygoestoshowthatthereisnodearthoftalentinthecountry. Thenarrativeiswellpaced,andtheviewernevergetsbored.Somepeoplemightfindtheabsenceofsongsinthefilmannoying,buttheirpresencewouldonlyhamperthepaceofthefilm.Thescriptiswellwritten,andsomeofthedialoguesarereallymemorable-forexample,whenMaliksays"Toforgiveafriend'smistakeisanevenbiggermistakeinthe'Company'".ThebackgroundmusicbySandeepChowtareallycomplementstheplotandhecertainlydeservessomecredit.Butmorethananything,itisRamGopalVarma'sdirectionthatneedstobeappreciated.Hehasprovedonceagainthatwithagoodstory,anexcellentcastandalotofdetermination,onecanmakeamemorablefilmanddefysomeofBollywood'sageoldnorms.AspecialmentionmustalsobemadeofMohanlal.HeiscertainlyoneofthebestIndianactorsofalltimeandalthoughhisHindidialogue-deliveryinCompanyisquitesloppy,hedeservesalotofpraiseformakingagoodeffort.Hisportrayalofanhonest,determinedcoptryingtoeradicatecrimeinBombay(looselybasedonSivanandan,JointCommissionerofPolice,Mumbai)isverywellexecuted. Thefilmgivesusanin-depthviewintothedarkworldofBombayMafia,whereonlythefittestsurvive,andhowtheiroperationshavespreadonaglobalscale.OnethingIfoundintriguingaboutthisfilmwastherolethatmobilephonesplay,howeverythingcanbecontrolledefficientlybyjustmakingonephonecall,andhowbusinessdealsandmurderscanbeexecutedwith,quiteliterally,justonepushofabutton.
