TheSatoyamaseries,whichhasjustwontheGrandPrixatthe28thInternationalWildlifeFilmFestival2005,isproducedbyNHKanddistributedbyMICO.ItpoeticallyportraysthecloserelationshipbetweenpeopleandnatureintraditionalruralenvironmentsinJapan.Thefirstprogram,whichfocusesontheagriculturalcycleofricepaddiesonhillsidesinJapan,hasbeendistributedtoover80countriesworldwide.Thesecondprogramtakesalookatatraditionalwater-supplysystemcalleda"kabata",whichnotonlyprovideswatertovillagehouseholdsbutalsonurturesavastdiversityoffish,insects,birds,andothercreatures.Bothprogramsofferinsightsintoenvironmentallysustainableliving.
