Shotforlessthan£10,000andwithacrewof2,thefilmhassecureddistributionintheUK,receivingbothacinemaanddvdreleaseinSeptember2009.IthasalsosecureddistributioninUSA,GermanyandFrance. DIRECTOR’SNOTES Thelifeofarent-boyisoftendepictedaseithersexyandglamorousorblightedwithabuseanddrugs.Iwantedtotryandgetclosertotherealityandfocusontheeverydaynatureofthings,thenutsandboltsofthejob,therealpersonalitiesbehindtheonlineprofilesandmagazineadverts.Ididn’twanttopandertowhatpeopleexpectedfromthiskindoffilmorwateritdownforamoremainstreamaudience.IalsodecidedearlyonthattheprojectwouldbeworthlessunlessIworkedwithpeoplewithknowledgeofthesexindustry.Itwasn’tuntilaftercastingthataroughnarrativetookshape,changinganddevelopingastheshootingprogressed,butalwaysbasedonrealexperiences.Therewasneverascriptassuch,onlyastoryframework,onwhichallofthesceneswereimprovised.Theblurringofdocumentaryandfictioncameverymuchoutofthisprocess,usingelementsofeachtobestsuittheneedsofthestory.Iwantedthefilmtobetrulyauthentic,butthatdidnotmeanthateverythinghadtobecompletelyreal.Afterall,thelifeofanescortisfilledwithvariationsofthetruth,amixtureofrealityandfantasy,andIwantedtoexplorethisintheverynatureofthefilm’sconstruction. DIRECTOR’SBIOGRAPHY AfterworkingineditingformanyyearswithcreditsonadiverserangeoffilmsfromRidleyScott’sGladiatortoHarmonyKorine’sMisterLonely,Andrewhasconcentratedonwritinganddirecting.Hehasmadefourshortfilms,thelastofwhich,entitledFiveMilesOutandstarringDakotaBlueRichardspremieredattheBerlinInternationalFilmFestivalinFeb2009.GreekPeteishisfirstfeatureandpremieredattheLondonLesbianandGayFilmFestivalinMarch2009.In2008hewasnamedasoneofScreenInternational’s‘StarsofTomorrow’andhasanumberoffeatureprojectsindevelopment.
