RicardoIscarwasalsothedirectorofsomeshortfictionfilmsanddocumentarieslikeElDiariodeManuelAngel(1991,partofMannheim,MunichandCiudaddeMexicoFilmFestivalsandprizedattheSanRoqueFilmFestivalinCádiz)andDieTaubenessenWassermelone(PigeonseatWatermelon,1987),thislastprogrammedattheKarloVivaryFilmFestival.DieReisederIda-IrmanachLünow(Ida-Irma'striptoLünow,1990)andAlaOrilladelRIo(AttheRiverside,1991)anexplorationofthelifesofthesalmantiniangypsiesthat,onceagain,wasawardedindifferentdocumentaryfestivals,gavehishomeland'sculturalauthoritiesenoughreasonsfordevotinghimaretrospectiveattheFilmotecadeCastillayLeón,introducedbytheprestigiousfilmmakerBasilioMartInPatino. RicardoIscarcontinuedworkinginhisownprojectsandassoundoperatorandcinematographer,bothinGermanyandSpain,apartfromstartingteachingathePompeuFabraUniversityofBarcelonaandattheCECC(CenterforcinematograpicstudiesofCatalunia)in1998,wherehegotincontactwithJoséLuIsGuerIn,JoaquinJordáandallthefilmmakersthathavebecomepartoftherenewalfortheSpanishwayofunderstandingdocumentaries.WorkingwiththeminfilmssuchasEnConstrucciónbyJoséLuIsGuerIn,andMonescomlaBeckybyJoaquinJordá,didn'tstoppedhimfromcontinuingwithhisownprojects,asLaPuntadelMoralandELCerco(2001and2005,respectively),abouttheAndalusianfishermen.MostofhisfilmshavebeenalsoprogrammedbydifferentEuropeanTVbroadcastersduringthelastdecade.
